UChicago Giving Day Promo 2024

In both 2022 and 2023, much of The University of Chicago’s Giving Day productions were filmed during the leafless-bleakness of winter. To give viewers a taste for what the experience on campus is like year round, we pitched the idea of capturing campus b-roll footage throughout spring, summer, and fall. They loved the idea, and we built a robust library of diverse footage—of athletics, community events, architectural spaces, classroom life, and beyond. The internal UChicago team also sourced global campus footage to sweeten the deal even more. 

Similar to the approach in 2023, we would write a script for student volunteers to perform across campus and the messaging would be direct. This time, however, the tone would lean away from humor, and more toward sincere and inspirational. 

Combining that narrative approach with a wider array of footage resulted in the most epic and dramatic of the first three Giving Day videos we produced for UChicago.
